Rebounding: What is it and why you should be doing it now

We all know that exercise is important in maintaining our health. However, some exercising is better than others. And I recently learned about a type of exercise that has many surprising benefits.

Rebounding, or in laymen’s terms, bouncing on a trampoline, is incredibly healthy and super easy to do. All you need is a mini trampoline and you have a full workout without needing to go to the gym.

Surprised at all the good that comes from this enjoyable task, I am now a daily bouncer. Who knew an activity that I’ve enjoyed since childhood could provide me with much desired health benefits in my adult years.

Keep reading to learn what rebounding is, why you should be doing it, how to do it, and where you can get your mini trampoline to start ASAP!

What is rebounding and how to do it?

Rebounding is bouncing on a trampoline. It is not even the full jumping that is necessary to support you, all you need to do is bend your knees and make sure you’re bouncing. As you start to build more endurance, strength, and coordination you can start to slowly bounce higher, lifting your feet two inches off the ground.

It’s important to focus on the downward aspect of the bounce, rather than jumping higher. Apply more pressure on the downward force.

It’s very simple, really. All you need is a mini trampoline, which you can find here. Fifteen minutes a day is said to be enough to get proper detox benefits for your exercise period.

What’s amazing is you don’t even need to do those 15 minutes consecutively. You can bounce for five minutes three times a day if you find dedicating a full 15 minutes to be too much.

I rebound when I get up in the morning to jumpstart my lymphatic system and it's a great to naturally wake you up. You can check your emails while doing it or listen to your favorite music. When I'm really in a hurry, I'll rebound in the kitchen while cooking my favorite sauté!

Why start rebounding now

Rebounding is low-impact cardiovascular exercise, which is great for anyone with any injuries or the elderly. You can introduce interval training with it to step up the exercise or maintain a steady bounce. Of course, exercise always helps weight loss, but there are even more amazing benefits to rebounding.

According to healthline.com, the following are some of the potential benefits of rebounding:

  • Work the muscles in the legs, increase endurance, and straighten bones

  • Work the abdominals, legs, buttocks, and deep back muscles

  • Improve endurance

  • Stimulates the lymphatic system which will flush out toxins, bacteria, dead cells, and other waste products

  • Improve balance, coordination, and overall motor skills

  • Support bone density, strength, and formation, while decreasing bone resorption

  • Support pelvic floor health by working the muscles of the deep core, potentially preventing urinary incontinence and stabilizing hip joints

An amazing benefit I learned, which is one of my main motivators, is the strengthening of cells. The act of going up and down on a trampoline, allows the body to find a moment of suspension and then a moment of collision, causing the cells to relax and then strengthen through a pumping action. This in turn, creates overall healthier cells that are stronger, and therefore, better at fighting off disease.

The healthier your lymphatic system, the healthier you are.

Another benefit that might attract women is that rebounding helps to eliminate cellulite. Truly, there are so many benefits, that I don’t know why someone wouldn’t want to start right now.

Are you going to try rebounding?

Remember to drink lots of water! Your body is flushing out toxins and you want to make sure they flow out of you rather than finding another place to get stuck.

Right now, the world is worried about their personal and collective health. It’s a great time to maintain your health and improve it. Keep your immune system healthy by rebounding daily and bring back the joy as a little kid from jumping on a trampoline at the same time.

Where to get your rebounder

You can easily get a rebounder off of Amazon. You want to make sure that you are getting an adult rebounder and not a child. However, children can also reap the benefits of rebounding.

This trampoline comes in at $70 and comes with a carrier bag. It folds in half and can be stored away for when you're not using it or if you want to bring it to the park with you.

This is FitPulse's mini trampoline that still folds in half but comes with a handle bar that is great for those who want to be a bit more athletic with higher jumps, or for the elderly to support themselves while still getting the benefits of rebounding. This comes in at $90 and also includes resistance bands.

Darchen's trampoline is more expensive ($120) but holds more weight than FitPulse. Used by professional athletes, you know you're getting good quality. If you need more weight support, you'll want to go with this one.
